It’s Springtime in the Rockies … and that means baseball, festivals and celebrations.

It’s springtime in Albuquerque – and that means it’s time to get outdoors. We celebrate our 305th birthday in April and Cinco de Mayo in May. The ever-popular Gathering of Nations Pow Wow gets under way on April 28th, the Albuquerque Isotopes launch their baseball season in April, and the Albuquerque Wine Festival kicks off at Balloon Fiesta Park on May 28. Here are a few of our favorite upcoming events:

Founder’s Day Fiesta
April 9, 2011

Come dressed in costume or just to help celebrate – either way Albuquerque’s annual Founder’s Day celebration is always a good time. (It’s our 305th birthday this year.) Enjoy the Parade of Eras around the Plaza in Old Town, live music, dance, and special activities just for the kids in this family-friendly event.

The Southwest Chocolate & Coffee Fest
April 16-17, 2011

Whether you like coffee in your chocolate, chocolate in your coffee or just lots of coffee and chocolate, this is the place for you.  And you’ll find more than just food – cooking seminars, demonstrations, contests and live entertainment are all part of this two-day event at the Albuquerque Convention Center. $7-$15/kids under 13 free

Cinco de Mayo: Fiesta Mexicana
May 5, 2011

Ballet Folklórico Paso del Norte, Mariachi Tapatío and Hermanos Escamilla- Charros of México present the choreographed story of the Mexican Army’s victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla at Popejoy Hall. One show only. Tickets $22-$35
